Prof. Yingxu Wang

Title of Speech: Pattern Recognition by Inductive Learning Theories for Machine Knowledge Acquisition and Intelligence Generation

Biography: Dr. Yingxu Wang, FIEEE, FBCS, FI2CICC, FAAIA, and FWIF, is professor of cognitive systems, brain science, software science, and intelligent mathematics. He is the founding President of International Institute of Cognitive Informatics and Cognitive Computing (I2CICC). He has held visiting professor positions at Univ. of Oxford (1995, 2018-2022), Stanford Univ. (2008, 2016), UC Berkeley (2008), MIT (2012), and distinguished visiting professor at Tsinghua Univ. (2019-2022). He received a PhD in Computer Science from the Nottingham Trent University, UK, in 1998 and has been a full professor since 1994. He is the founder and steering committee chair of IEEE Int’l Conference Series on Cognitive Informatics and Cognitive Computing (ICCI*CC) since 2002. He is founding Editor-in-Chiefs and Associate Editors of 10+ Int’l Journals and IEEE Transactions. He is Chair of IEEE SMCS TC-BCS on Brain-inspired Cognitive Systems, and Co-Chair of IEEE CS TC-CLS on Computational Life Science. His basic research has been across contemporary science disciplines of intelligence, mathematics, knowledge, robotics, computer, information, brain, cognition, software, data, systems, cybernetics, neurology, and linguistics. He has published 600+ peer reviewed papers and 38 books/proceedings. He has presented 60+ invited keynote speeches in international conferences. He has served as honorary, general, and program chairs for 40 international conferences. He has led 10+ international, European, and Canadian research projects as PI. He is recognized by Google Scholar as world top 1 in Software Science, top 1 in Cognitive Robots, top 7 in Autonomous Systems, top 2 in Cognitive Computing, and top 1 in Knowledge Science with a h-index 59. Prof. Xinguo Yu

Title of speech: Intelligent Systems Leveraged on Cognition Pattern in Education

Biography:Professor Yu Xinguo is the dean of CCNU Wollongong Joint Institute and a professor of National Engineering Research Center for E-Learning at Central China Normal University, Wuhan, China, senior member of both IEEE and ACM, and an adjunct professor of University of Wollongong, Australia. He is the chair of Hubei Society of Artificial Intelligence in Research and Education. He received B.Sc. degree in Mathematics from Wuhan University of Technology, M. Eng degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, another M. Eng. degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from National University of Singapore. His current research mainly focuses on intelligent educational technology, educational robotics, multimedia analysis, computer vision, and machine learning. He has published over 100 research papers.  He is an Associate Editor of International Journal of Digital Crime and Forensics, Guest Editor of several SCI journals, currently a guest editor of special issue: Humanized Computing and Reasoning in Teaching and Learning (https://www.techscience.com/CMES/special_detail/hcrtl). He was general chairs or program chairs for more than 10 international conferences. Prof. Sankar K. Pal

Title of speech: Granular Data Mining in Video Analytics: Shallow to Deep Learning

Biography: Sankar K. Pal (https://www.isical.ac.in/~sankar) is a Distinguished Scientist and former Director of Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). He founded the Machine Intelligence Unit and the Center for Soft Computing Research: A National Facility in ISI, Calcutta. He received a Ph.D. in Radio Physics and Electronics from Indian Statistical Institute/ University of Calcutta in 1979, and another Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering along with DIC from Imperial College, University of London in 1982. He joined his Institute (ISI) in 1975 as a CSIR Senior Research Fellow where he became a Full Professor in 1987, Distinguished Scientist in 1998 and the Director for the term 2005-2010. Currently, he is a National Science Chair, Govt. of India, and ISI Emeritus Professor working at ISI, Calcutta.
